Ángela Zorro-Medina, JSD — Graduate Research Assistant

Ángela Zorro-Medina is a doctoral student at University of Chicago Department of Sociology. Her research focuses on understanding the ways the criminal justice system produces and reproduces racial and social inequality in Latin America and the United States. She holds a J.S.D (doctorate in the science of law) and an LLM from Yale Law School. Prior to that she received a LLB (JD equivalent) and a BA in Economics from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia. Angela has also served as external consultant to the Colombian Ministry of Justice, Deutsche Gesellschaft Fur Internationale Zusammmenarbeit (GIZ), the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), and the Inter-American Bank of Development, in projects related to prison conditions, criminal law and economic development.
